More Than A Meal
We built a new, safe, and sustainable kitchen for over 1,200 children and completely renovated the classrooms to create a brighter, safer space for both students and teachers.
For Kidarafa Primary School, a boarding school serving children from the surrounding area, providing safe and reliable meals was a vital part of supporting students' wellbeing, health, and ability to learn.
Before this project, Kidarafa did not have a kitchen at all.
The teacher cooked outside the classroom, directly on the ground and exposed to weather, smoke, and dust. These conditions made meal preparation difficult and created an environment that was neither safe nor hygienic.
Students were also expected to bring firewood from home, placing additional pressure on families and asking young children to contribute to the school's daily meal preparation.
The need was clear: a school that work so hard to support its students deserved facilities that could do the same.
After the success of our first project in Ng’wandakw, we partnered again with John Bei and the local community to bring Kidarafa’s vision to life.
The project focused on three key areas:
Community-Led Construction
More than 40 local workers were employed during construction, supporting families and ensuring the project stayed rooted in the community.
School Restoration
Classrooms were refurbished with new windows, improved walls and ceilings, fresh paint and upgraded learning spaces.
Build for the Future
Alongside the renovations, a new sustainable kitchen was constructed to provide safer meal preparation, improved efficiency, and long-term support for students and staff.
A purpose-built kitchen created a practical, reliable space for preparing meals every day.
Refurbished classrooms helped create a brighter and more welcoming place to learn.
The project focused on long-term improvements that will benefit future generations of students.

Thank You
This project was made possible through the dedication of local workers, school staff, community members, supporters, and everyone who believed in the vision for Kidarafa Secondary School.
Thank you to every donor, volunteer, and partner who contributed to creating a safer and more supportive environment for future generations of students.
